Which XScale ipaq are you targetting?
The OS itself should run but you would need new kernel/modules at least.
This means modifying the initrd as well as the intimate install.
None of the intimte developers has anything newer than a 36xx.
We recently got intimate running on a 38xx because people bugged us on
irc.freenode.net #intimate and helped with testing (since we don't have
the hardware to do it ourselves).
You might want to try the same approoach. :-)
