Familiar is developed largely by employees at HP's Research Labs, but
there is only so much time they can give to it - they are doing R&D
beyond a handheld linux distro, so there are constraints on their time.

I suppose the simplest answer to that is none of the Intimate developers
have new handheld machines, the few of us that are working on the thing
all have 3600 class iPAQs, and we now only just support the 3800's
(thanks to some volunteers testing things for us).
Remember, Intimate has no corporate support at all, so we effectively
have a zero budget - buying $400 handhelds every time they come out is a
little beyond us ;)
