pointer device

I have experimented booting into Linux using the haret route (Downloaded the
hx4700.zip by Joseph Cole)
This works sufficently well that I am encouraged to purchase a CF card and
try the more complex looking flashing route.

However, there seems to be a problem with the stylis input that I found
sufficently bad to preclude any serious use of the device under linux.

Sometimes the first touch of the stylis produces a coordinate far from the
touch point. (If I draw a continuous line with drawpad it follows the stylis
fine. If I draw a picket fence of little 2mm strokes, then I get horrible
lines on the top of each stroke, usually heading in from the 2 o'clock
position some 5-8mm away. It is impossible to use the software keyboard
entry reliably.)

Is this a known problem? I guess its not too hard to fix? Anyone working on
it?
