Install Familiar on hx4700 withou CF

Hi all,

I'd like to install Familiar Linux on my hx4700. The problem is that I
don't have a CF card (nor a card reader device). According to the
following instructions:

...one can only install Familiar using a CF card. Is that still the
case, or have there been any updates?

I can read and write SD cards on my laptop. Is there a way now to have
familiar installed from there? Is it possible now to upload the images
via a USB/serial connection with minicom?
