Backing up - needs a new cable?

(I tried to send this last Friday, but it didn't appear to get through...)

Hi there,

I'm playing with the idea of trying to put Linux on an hx4700. From
what I can tell from the wiki and this list, it's possible, with some
effort. :-)

I have a particular question. I _think_ the answer to my question is
"yes", but I wanted to check:

Q: If I want to take a backup of the contents of the device before I
start installing Linuix, I really _am_ going to need a cable, as
described in http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/HpIpaqSerialCable,
aren't I?

ie, there's no way to do "serial over USB" or something?

As you can see, I'm new at this.

Many thanks,

-Andy
