Boot with your own kernel problems

Hi,

Since i managed to boot from HaRET using pre-build kernels i tried to built
mine...but nothing yet.
I tried with versions 2.6.11-hh2, 2.6.15-hh2 and 2.6.12-hh2.

The first problem was with initrd while trying to boot from different
versions than 2.6.11 ( I used the pre-built from sdg for 2.6.11-hh2).
What i did was:

make hx4700_defconfig
make
make modules_install
mkinitrd /.../initrd-2.6.XX-XX.img 2.6.XX-XX.img

And after this the normal actions from booting from HaRET.

The result was freezing in the first penguin screen when the whole
thermometer becomes red and the eyes crashed.......

Where is the problem? Is it kernel's fault or i have to make something
different for the initrd?

While making initrd, some modules (ide-core.ko, ide-disk.ko, jbd.ko,
ext3.ko) were "unable to recognize the format of file input"...

Any help with this???

Thanks a lot,

Yiannis
