hi burt,
thank you so much for your advices.
I followed the `readme.txt' file instructions available at
http://projects.o-hand.com/hx2750/ and everything sounded
perfectly clear.
I copied `default.txt', `haret.exe', `initrd', `rootfs.img' and `zImage' on
my SD card and launched the haret executable. tux's eyes went bloodshed. the
linux kernel booted ... and stopped...
here are some traces :

then the screen froze for 5 minutes, and :
"

"
and that's all... :(
at this state, the cursor is still flickering... but nothing is going on.
it seems that the initrd ran ok and that the `rootfs.img' has been mounted.
so here are my questions:
- did I do a mistake in the installation process ?
- did I have to tune the `default.txt' file so it fits my device ? (if the
answer is yes, what do I have to do then ?)
- is it possible to give some extra debugging options to the kernel via
`default.txt' ?
- I remarked some of the patches available at
http://projects.o-hand.com/hx2750/ dated from September whereas the kernel
image I loaded dated from May. Is there any documentation available somewhere
on the wiki about applying those patches to a standard vanilla source tree ?
(and about cross-compiling kernels for ARM ?) or is there any updated image
available ?
- at last, does anyone have an idea of what went wrong at linux boot on
my device ?
I'm looking forward to reading your answers folks.
I would be very glad to bring you my modest help for that port, julien
ps: is there any hx2000-port IRC channel available for direct discussion ?
