  Perfect! But again, we need more info to make sure your discovery
will be made to work for everyone. So, can you confirm that:

1. You have old CVS checkout of 2.6.16-hh5
2. You went kernel26/sound and kernel26/include/sound and cvs-update
each of them.
3. You didn't cvs udpate the rest of kernel tree (which is at
2.6.18-hh0 now and sound known not to work in it).
4. You built the kernel from this tree and it worked for you like
above.

  To get around any contingencies, can tell what size and md5sum of
ak4641.c you have with the setup above, too?
