I have also build a rootfs image for the HTC Universal. It is build
for the 2.6.16 kernel. All the modules and firmware are included in
the image.
To turn off key light just type:
bash$ key_led [enter]
twice from the shell (no idea why it has to be twice).
A rootfs image is just a clean linux image. It has no GUI enviroment,
but GUI can be installed by
[bash$ 'ipkg install "GUI enviroment you want"'
You can get the image together with the zImage here:
http://gnulinux.biz/files/Universal/sd-mmc/2.6.16/
NOTE: The default.txt file is diffrent from the one to use with .12 kernel.
I have not included any extra software packages, but i have made the
repository file so its just to install packages form the
terminal/console.
In example: You want 'nano' text editor, do as follow:
bash$ ipkg update [enter] (only once in a while, it's just for
updateing the database)
bash$ ipkg install nano [enter]
And do the same for other applications you want to have.
NOTE: I am not responsible if anything breaks. It is an unstable image
and kernel, but it works (more or less the same as 2.6.12).
Read the "Release_note_rootfs" before you attempt to install.
** Use it at your own risc **
