BootBlaster_1.18.exe on HP3900 - illegal operation

I've copied the BootBlaster_1.18.exe and bootldr-2.18.01.bin files to my iPAQ
that's still running the original WinCE.

I tried two methods:

1. Copying directly to the MMC card using a Mac, putting the card back into
the ipaq and using file explorer.

2. Copying the file to the ipaq using Bluetooth (on the Mac) and then file
explorer.

I get:

Fatal Application Error
Application BootBlaster_1.18.exe has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down. ...
Exception: 0xdfff0123
Address: 00012184

??

I don't have Windows on any machine, the Mac is 10.3 and I have Debian
unstable or FC3 on my other machines.

I've also tried BootBlaster_1.15.exe - the same error, same exception and
address.
