I'll toss my $.02 into the kitty here (mind you, I'm
quite a bit biased, being the Python bigot that I am).

I'd be more than a bit happy to see Python emerge as
something of a standard for iPaq specific apps. Of
course, the power/battery life issues that were
brought up are very good points, but so is the fact
that there are no PIM apps designed to run on the small
screen currently in existance.

However, even with my Python-happy brain spinning, I'm
not so sure that the idea of re-writing basic stuff
like ls (I think that was the example used) is such
a hot idea. Sure, it would save space, but it would
*really* create a rather large task, as well as a
total split from anything mainstream (now every utility
would have to be maintained seperatly, rather than just
a recompile when something new is released). Maybe
'ls' is a bad example (it's pretty basic, and probably
wouldnt need to be maintained too much) but that wouldnt
hold true for everything.

Anyhow, just my thoughts on the matter ;)
