The newer 1GB microdrives consume less power, especially in idle mode. See
http://www.storage.ibm.com/hardsoft/diskdrdl/micro/spec.htm . In any case:
the difference between idle and run mode is still large enough that you
really want the disk be in idle mode for most of the time.
