Simply because it is not cool. This might sound like a joke, but I'm
serious. Why are *BSD and Linux so popular? Because they are developed
in an open way by a bunch of committed hackers. Now compare that with
Solaris...
Another issue might be the Sun source license, which is not considered
compatible with the Open Source guidelines.

Hmm, as far as I can read in the FAQ for ChorusOS 4.0 it only supports
ix86, UltraSparc and PowerPC targets.
