About battery, my iPAQ 5550 cannot monitor battery state. However with I
observed that the battery is good enough to maintain power during
several days. (I use it only for meeting: about 15 20 minutes a day)

I tried to find where is the source code about reading the internal
battery monitor chip but I found nothing (this the first time I read a
kernel's source code :s and I have to learn with it's general structure)

I got a iPAQ 5550 and the wifi firmware update has the same issues about
WEP and WPA.
I tried to use the latest firmware from HP to enable WPA, because the
firmware officially supports both of WPA and WEP. However after
installing Familiar on my iPAQ, I was unable to use WEP encryption. I
think my iPAQ has the same wifi hardware as your's. You need to choose
one of encryption method and flash the wifi firmware before installing
familiar. Because I choosed to keep WEP encryption available I had to
reinstall pocket PC, re-flash my wifi using the old firmware, and then
reinstall Familiar. Both of these firmwares are available on HP's website.
