I am more curious as to what Phil says about the use of oe in making
familiar. It's regular use would make others contributing to familiar
easier.

If you actually want an image that should work (barring some minor
issues), look here:
http://handhelds.org/~pb/unstable

I have used unstable14 and unstable16 on an h5550.

Some notes:
- the bitstream vera fonts are missing from the opie image. Just use
ipkg to install them. If you want to use opie that is.
- the atmel-usb driver seems to be the more featureful driver but the
at76c503a-rfmd driver is the one in the image. Just use ipkg to
install atmel-usb-modules if you want to use them. But they might have
their issues too. I find built in wireless to be a gamble most of the
  time. YMMV.

Darnit, there was a third item I wanted to put down. But forgot it.

Anyhow, good luck.
