The cradle has usb and serial built in. You can even use both at the
same time!

I have one of these h5550. Familiar works on it. I suggest using one of
the unstable images available here:
http://handhelds.org/~pb/unstable/

Familiar v0.7.2 is not so much fun on the h5550s.
