Hi,

I am trying to use my Apple Newton keyboard with my iPaq H5450, but had no
luck yet. I bult an adapter with the following pin-out.

Male DSUB (connects to cradle)
 3 5 6
 | | |
 5 4 1
Female Mini-DIN (connects to keyboard)

(I got the pin-out from http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~jpc1/linux/ipaq/serial.html)

I connected the keyboard and did the following:
 modprobe newtonkbd
 modprobe keybdev
 modprobe serport
 inputattach -newt /dev/tts/0

With the inputattach from the familiar feed, I always get:
 inputattach: device initialization failed

with the inputattach from http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~jpc1/linux/ipaq/serial.html
I don't get any errors, but the keyboard does not seem to work, either.

I am using familiar-unstable with opie-testing.

I also tried a modified pin-out:

Male DSUB (connects to cradle)
 2 5 4
 | | |
 5 4 1
Female Mini-DIN (connects to keyboard)

This should be the same as if I put a null-modem in between the adapter and
the cradle. But I get the same results as with the other pin-out.

Has anyone had success with this?
Am I missing something, or is the serial port of my iPaq possibly broken?

Regards,
Gert
