You don't actually need devfsd to use devfs. It's only needed for
persistent storage of manual changes to /dev.

The SHAMCOP modules are probably a bit newer. These have been developed
for the h2200, which uses similar (but not quite identical) hardware to
the h5000. Ultimately, the intention is that SHAMCOP will support both
machine families, but right now I don't think that is the case.
