I have successfully restore the bootloader and wince on a 5450, to apply
the wlan firmware updates.
I used the procedure at the bottom of this link
http://www.handhelds.org/handhelds-faq/wincerestoration.html.
I'm not sure where in the process you are having a problem, but basically
reset the ipaq as if you were installing linux.
When you have the console prompt up, type load bootldr and then xmodem up
parrot.bin.
This did work for me, although I had the "Oh sh1t I'm going to make a brick"
fear through the whole thing.
If the upload does fail, the old bootloader "should" still be there, just
reboot and try it again or post and let us know what the problem is.
