annoying kernel message

Anyone know what this means:
bass=50 must be in range [0,3]

I just fixed some issues w/ loading the sound driver and up pops this
message. I am having trouble tracking down whatever is trying to set the
bass to 50 (when only 0-3 are possible values). So I have given up for
the time being and just asking on the list.

Specs:
device: h5550
kernel version: hh36.11
familiar distro: unstable

Second question:
Does anyone know why the wireless extensions in the handhelds kernel cvs
was reverted from v16 to v15 in December of last year? No big deal, or
even driving desire to have v16, just curious.
