Install a new kernel

I have created with cross compilation a new kernel for my ipaq.
I do ipkg-make-kernel-package and he generate more more file .ipk .
What i have to install?
If i try to install the package of kernel the pda want the package of
module.
 If i try to install the package of modules the pda want the package of new
kernel.

Everybody can help explaine me what i have to do and if wrong?
