  I don't know what exact version of minicom you use -- 2.2 at me
explicitly asks for protocol used for upload, but your mileage may vary.

    I have no idea, maybe eBay? But in this case I would first ensure
myself that the cable/cradle is the problem -- as I said, it is only
speculation from my side.

  I personally used only this method. It should be also possible to
install from CF card using CF sleeve (at least bootldr supports
something like that), but I have never tried that.
