Hi Erik...
I might not have expressed my self precisely .... That's what I call
switchboard http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/images/54xxswitchboard.jpg .

I know what things people have been doing with that hardware (yes, I
do like the idea of usb host:) ) What I am precisely interested in is
providing DC power to the mainboard - if anybody has tried that
without this magical switchboard ?

Also - after reading the JTAG (???) description for h5000 series - I
see that some of connectors might be the answer :

# pin 13 - RS232 RXD
# pin 15 - RS232 TXD

# pin 45 - VCC 3.3V
# pin 47 - Gnd
# pin 48 - Gnd
# pin 49 - Gnd
# pin 50 - Gnd

Do I understand correctly that all of these connectors are on the edge
of motherboard and not on the switchboard? Or maybe Jamey meant the
connector on the mainboard that the switchboard is connected ?
