H5150 breaks with -hh29 kernel (worked with -hh28) - goes dark seconds after boot

Just updated modules and zImage to K2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh29 from hh28.
The system seems to boot up okay to login-prompt on both serial port and
LCD. But a few seconds after rebooting, the system appears to suspend
and freeze (display goes dark and serial port stops responding).
Pressing the "power button" appears to wake things up for a second, then
goes dark again. Only recovery appears to be to reload unstable3 via
bootloader. Any thoughts about what is going wrong? Anyone running
hh29 successfully on another platform?
