Since you mentioned it I took a look at your config again. It looks like
it should boot an h5400 device.

If you want a known bootable config for 2.6 you can get mine from:
http://hovland.org/familiar/h5400-2.6-config

Sometimes bootldr borks on 'boot vfat'. It especially does this for me
if the main battery has gotten low. But since you can't boot the 2.6
image at all I don't think this issue is related. Just for grins you
can try the ol' pull out the battery for 10 minutes and try again trick.
But I don't think it will help.
