So, I decided to give the kernel source a try, and so far can't see
any code suggesting power via the sleeve connector and power via the
serial connector is treated any differently. I'm leaning more toward
hardware problem at this point.
Still, anyone with more certain knowledge of 55xx charging
management, please pipe up!
