i can no longer hard reboot my ipaq

I have a 5550, i press the navigation button and the reset button and I
do not get the "boot" prompt. It just keeps resetting the ipaq, the
penguin appears and then Opie.

I can not even get minicom to connect to it anymore. "getty" is running
on the ipaq.

help please. anyone ran across this situation?
