I have this PDA model. I have familiar v0.7.2+unstable16 w/ kernel version
hh36.11 running on it. And opie is the environment on top of that. I am
quite happy with it as a PDA. But I am disappointed by the flakiness of
wireless and a few of the rough edges. But overall I am impressed and
deeply appreciate all of the work the familiar and opie teams have put
into making a free OS for a handheld device. I use my device in a
'business' environment as a PDA all of the time, for what it is worth.
That situation actually gets in the way of my helping with the problems
in familiar because I have chosen to have a stable device over a good
development situation.
I am not surprised by your frustration, those of us with this device
have had to deal with these issues for quite a while. It isn't for the
unadventurous.
If you haven't already, reflash your handheld with one of the familiar
unstable images from here:

Most people prefer the v0.7.2+unstable14, YMMV. But your PDA should work
better.
Then make sure your battery is well charged. Batteries at very low
charge can create unpredictable behavior that is not the fault of the
OS, but sure can look like it. If you are still having issues, please
report back.
