This is the short list of the things I am planning to do in order to make
H5550 more or less usable. A few figures given prior to the list might
help those participating in the earlier discussion on power consumption.
I invite everyone to comment/participate in these targets.
Kindest regards,
Alex
iPAQ H5550 component power consumption:
MMC card removed
Backlight: max 170mA, min ???mA
WiFi usbvnetr loaded-unloaded: 250mA*
Bluetooth: 14mA
Microdrive (IBM 1G), sleep mode: 5.1mA**
iPAQ sleeping, everything off: 14.5mA** (90 hours battery life).
iPAQ awake, full light, WiFi on: 560mA (2 hours battery life).
* This looks like a lot! Are there any power saving modes?
**Need to check GPIO state! Some pins may stay powered under the sleep
mode.
Things to do:
1. Measure min power consumption of the backlight (easy)
2. Measure power consumption of the MMC card (easy)
3. Check GPIO states under sleep (easy)
4. Find a way to restart Bluetooth every 2min. without breaking TCP/IP in
BNEP (check what Maria Cruz did)
5. Is there a way to restart Bluetooth without breaking a connection to
rfcomm? One needs, probably, to wrire a filter that reads from rfcomm and
watches for errors. As soon as the device disappears the filter should
start attempts to open it again, keeping the output stream constantly
open.
6. Fix the 5-way button (kernel arch/arm/mach-pxa/h5400_asic.c)
7. Make it possible to unload the WiFi driver (usbvnetr ?) without the
problems existing now.
Kernel/drivers:
kernel_2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh36.11_ipaqpxa.ipk
kernel-modules_2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh36.11_ipaqpxa.ipk
ipkg remove at76c503a-modules
ipkg install atmel-usb-modules
ipkg install sound modules
Are there any improvements in hh36.16?
