2.6 on iPAQ 5500

Hi,
has anyone had success booting 2.6 on iPAQ 5500 [or similar]? A quick test
here (using the current kernel26 tree from handhelds.org CVS) results in

Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

I tried both with devfs enabled and disabled [and yes, I created the right
nodes in /dev before trying w/ devfs disabled, 2.4 boots without it].

Any ideas before I start debugging?
