Actually, from what I have found after replacing my 5455 with a 5555 there
are several hardware differences. One, the 5555 uses a different model
processor. Second, the main board has several differences including the
200mhz bus speed.
I have also tried all the bootblaster versions to try and copy off the OS
and not only was I unsuccessful at finding a working utility (also tried
osloader and some others) I lost my ROM in the process. In fact, I still
have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement ROM. Several people
mentioned that Cambridge labs can undo it's "bricked" status but I have been
holding off in hopes that either a good port will emerge or someone will
post a 5500 ROM. I know, way too optimistic.
(Oh, and before someone else suggests that I download the posted 54xx ROM
and use that, let me just point out that it won't work. See the above
reasons and add to them the fact that the 55xx is PPC2003 not 2002.)

That's what I'm hoping, just a matter of time. I desperately wish I know how
to develop so I could further the cause. I always have access to the
hardware, but aside from the tic-tac-toe program I wrote in 4th grade using
basic my Commodore CBM, I don't know ANYTHING about programming.

Take care, and good luck. It will get there, just not for a little while.
Unfortunately, the developers work extremely hard for very little (if
anything) and there for not many have the latest hardware so by the time the
55xx is supported the 4100's and 5700's will be out.
