5450 Linux install gone awry

I gave installing Linux on a 5450 a shot, but it doesn't seem to have gone
very well:

1. The first thing I did was to load BootBlaster and bootldr
        BootBlaster.exe came from http://handhelds.org/feeds/BootBlaster3900.exe
                dated 5/23/2003 version 2.6

        bootldr.bin came from http://handhelds.org/download/bootldr/pxa
                dated 5/14/2003 version 2.20.1

2. I backed up everything

3. I ran "BootBlaster" and loaded bootldr. That seemed to work. It told me
that the mach_type is set to 203=0xcb. Although I'm not sure what that means.

4. Now when I reset it, it buzzes, goes silent and nothing else happens. The
screen is blank and I can't talk to it using HyperTerminal at 115200 baud.

Have I made a brick? Should I have done something else along the line that I
missed?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Don
