For example, if they wanted, spammers could send out thousands of
emails that appeared to come from YOUR email account. Does that mean that
the spam came from you? Of course not.

This is a mailing list for a group of people running the Linux operating
system on HP/Compaq handheld computers. We are not sending out spam, and you
are not subscribed to this list.

There is nothing anyone can do to prevent a spammer from co-opting
their address. Welcome to the reality of email. I suggest you get and
install a spam filter.

Remember- spam *never* appears to come from its true source.  Spammers
*always* spoof the return address so that it appears to come from somewhere
else.
