 I use the old kernel and initrd of
http://www.xmission.com/~sa/h4355_linux/
I don't have any serial cable yet. But I get a login on the screen of
the ipaq.
You will find the startup.txt on the same URL. You have to rename the
initrd file on the ipaq to the same name as in the startup.txt.

Try this, it should work.
