Attempting to boot kernel on 4150...

FYI:

Results so far trying to boot linux kernel on iPAQ h4150
========================================

If I use any combination of haret.exe and zImage I can find from:

http://handhelds.org/~michaelo/ipaq/starterkit/

or:
http://www.xmission.com/~sa/h4355_linux/

or if I try building it myself from source for kernel-2.6.6-hh0 found at:
http://handhelds.org/~michaelo/ipaq/kernel/linux-2.6.6-hh0.tar.bz2

this is all I see:

Run HARET. Sometimes it 'sticks' either at start of thermometer, or half
way. In that case, WinCE is active underneath (as suggested, press top left
corner ie start menu) and try again.
When it works, you'll see the thermometer climb to the top, then screen fade
out. At this point nothing else ever happens.

The only time I've got further than this is using a pre-built kernel from:

http://www.zanggasse.de/h4000/

With this one, after haret finishes, you get to see a penguin at the top
left of the screen - but then nothing else happens, so far as I'm aware.
Most likely this boot could get much further but some part of my
configuration is wrong.

The mail describing how this kernel etc is setup is at:

http://www.handhelds.org/hypermail/h4100-port/1/0192.html

This seems to be a minor variation on the procedure described in:

http://handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/HpIpaqH2200ssh

with perhaps just the IP addresses different?
Anyway, time to learn more about initrd, relationship to kernel, etc...

cheers,

Tom
