Haret fails very often - I usually takes me 3 or 4 tries. But the good
thing is - you don't need to perform a reset if that happens. The CE
Desktop graphics is just covered up by that penguin, but still
functional. Tap the top left corner, and the start menu should appear
again and you can restart haret immediately.

That's at least true for my 4150 - although for me the thermometer never
stopped half way up, it either freezes at zero level or not at all.
