RE: Building kernel for h4100

HI Michael,

So I've just tried booting using:
the intrd and rootfs you suggest
plus either a kernel I build myself or the one on the starterkit link below
for jun10.

I used the startup.txt file from there also, after changing:
set INITRD initrd1.gz

to

set INITRD initrd

So the whole file reads:
set KERNEL zImage
set MTYPE 341
set INITRD initrd
set CMDLINE "root=/dev/ram0 rw init=/linuxrc console=ttyS0,115200n8
console=tty0 ramdisk_size=8192 cachepolicy=writethrough"
bootlinux

I still don't have any luck with either kernel, although they now both fail
in the same way.
Haret - thermometer climbs to only half way then remains stuck - eventually
'9:17' is written to the top right of the screen - then stays stuck.

Soft reset clears it (thankfully - no lost settings).

So, I wonder what's wrong?

cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

You should use
http://handhelds.org/~michaelo/ipaq/starterkit/initrd_jun10 (see
http://handhelds.org/~michaelo/ipaq/starterkit/ChangeLog), as this is
the latest initrd for 2.6.6.
The corresponding rootfs should be
http://handhelds.org/~michaelo/ipaq/starterkit/rootfs_jun28a_2004.tar.bz2.

We should continue this discussion on the list, because it could be
useful to someone else, and so that you get feedback from others.

:-)

Cheers,

    Michael.
