Oh, That section is slightly obsolete... I would recommend just using
the instructions here: http://www.handhelds.org/z/wiki/HpIpaqH2200ssh
the kernel on Michael's page has h4xxx support. (at least last time i
tried).

You shouldn't need haret running too see CLIENT CLIENT CLIENT... appear
on you mincom terminal. The only thing i can think of is make sure you
have the serial module modprobed on your pc, or possibly check your
minicom setting.
If you want to try kermit instead of minicom, I use these settings in
my ~/.kermrc:
set line /dev/tts/0
set speed 115200
set parity none
set carrier-watch off
set flow-control none
then 'kermit -c' connects it.
