Thanks very much for following that up and confirming your set up.
Sorry I've not got back sooner... life...
I think the best way I can get this sorted is to start from a known good
set up - yours. I'll email you off list (no need to bore the list to
tears with my woes) to get copies of your file system, kernel, haret,
startup.txt, and fstab - that should do it...
