  Well, duh! I finally figured out -- well, not figured, but found
accidently -- that it's the keys on the keyboard of your serial terminal
on the desktop that you are supposed to press, not the buttons on the
ipaq. I was frantically pressing each and every button, and combinations
of buttons, to no avail.
