I can't recall the details right now, but there was something odd with
serial_cs ... either not included, or not available. It *can* work,
however, as I've managed to successfully test a CF modem in the past.

I've had to restrict various parts of my (home-based) website, sorry.
The server has also been moved and extensively experimented with in the
last few weeks (drives and tuners) so may not have been online anyway.
Also, in it's current incarnation, I have an (old) serial_cs module
package (unknown state, and possibly for one of my custom kernels) that
might work for you (no warranties implied, etc):
http://www.marcusbrutus.soho.on.net/feeds/h2200/kernel-module-serial-cs-2.6_2.6.15-hh2-r2_h2200.ipk
This link appears to work with an anonymous proxy, so I assume the whole
feed is readable, ymmv.

Search the various lists for keywords like "git" "source" "bitbake", and
see "Getting Started" on openembedded.org ... be prepared for a fairly
steep learning curve and *long* build times (initially).
Once toolchain (et al) are built, however, a full kernel (and packaging)
takes about 3-5 mins (on my Xen Server = Sempron 3400+ with 32bit
userland + kernel.)
The only starting advice I can really give you is that I suggest you use
a Debian-based development machine (or environment) and use gcc 3.3 or
3.4 (can't recall which). There is more info in the lists about this,
I'm sure ... and probably some info in the wiki (iirc).
