I have just done a

cvs diff -r1.19 -r1.20 -u uda1380.c >/tmp/rec-fix.diff
patch -p0 </tmp/rec-fix.diff

on top of the 2.6.15-hh2 kernel familar 0.8.4 uses.

gpe-mixer shows an additional microphone slider then with always
stays at maximum. the igain regulator is still there and works.

But a simple cat /dev/dsp
shows the difference.
Now you can record from the microphone.
