Re: audio recording with familar 0.8.4 on ipaq 2210, GPE2.8

I have also been unsuccessful getting recording on my h2100 to work
(using alsarecord, or any other tools) from the microphone. This is
what I've tried so far:

1) Recording with the GPE image of Familiar 0.8.4,
2) Recording with the Opie image of Familiar 0.8.4,
3) I think i've ruled out permissions-problems (ie doesn't work as root
even).

alsamixer seems to work fine, and see the microphone/other channels.
I'm really not sure what to try next (I'm reasonably familiar w/alsa).

On a separate concern, I notice that GPE 2.8 has been released. I'm
really eager to try it, as notes indicate quite a few fixes that bother
me. Before I go ahead & compile my own, does anyone have an ETA for
the next version of Familiar w/GPE 2.8?
