Hello,
I also report trouble making USB networking work...
I had no problem to ifup usb0 on the iPAQ, but found no way to start usb
networking on the GNU/Linux PC.
Fortunately, I also have a h3970 and can compare the behaviour between
the too.
When I plug the h3970 in through the USB cable, here's what I get on the PC
(on /var/log/messages)
Feb 16 19:58:40 localhost kernel: hub.c: new USB device 02:0a.0-2,
assigned address 3
Feb 16 19:58:40 localhost kernel: usb0: register usbnet usb-02:0a.0-2,
Linux Device
Feb 16 19:58:43 localhost usb.agent[31317]: missing kernel or user mode
driver usbnet
Feb 16 19:58:43 localhost devlabel: devlabel service started/restarted
Then, no issue to start networking.
When I plug in the h2200, nothing happens in /var/log/messages.
Did anyone eventually manage to go further this step? I mean without
magic that others can't reproduce....
I'd love to have usb networking, in particular because it would allow us
to pivot-root to an NFS partition. As far as I am concerned, that would
make it much easier (than PCMCIA) to update and debug my shamcop modules.
Still investigating...
Cheers,
Michael.
