0.8.4rc1 jffs2 image boots, but touchscreen doesn't work and it thinks it is a 6300 :P

Using LAB, I flashed this image:
http://familiar.handhelds.org/releases/v0.8.4-rc1/images/gpe-image-v0.8.4-rc1-h2200.rootfs.jffs2

onto the internal flash

and while the system booted, I can't calibrate the screen because the
touchscreen is nonresponsive (or set the root password and thus log in)

I notice that there is a kernel image in the images directory:
http://familiar.handhelds.org/releases/v0.8.4-rc1/images/zImage-2.6.15-hh0-h2200-20060322131145
that may be intended to fix this problem.
Does anyone have any more information on this?
Thanks in advance,
j.
