for suspending, I use "echo mem > /sys/power/state" since "apm -suspend" wait
several seconds before suspending. On my ipaq with gpe from the 0.8.3 prerelease
of Dec 7, it resumes.

With the same release they are working : they launch respectively the calendar,
the
contacts, the running programs and switch between desktop and application.
It can be set in the Settings of gpe.
