As Michael wrote the kernel is in C and arch dependent ASM. I think
tutorials and
HOWTOs are not really released and anyway the kernel is changing thru the
development
as much that you can't really follow in HOWTOs.
Personally I check the sources I need to for the actual development and
that gives me the
90% of the answers. The other 10% is coming from the people involved in
the development
like this list. If I don't know something I ask and somebody will help out
sooner or later.
