Thanks for testing. It seems that ogg123 laggs behind at start. Log suggests
it stops the pcm, takes a breath and re-tries.

Yes. I took a look at its intro wiki pages this afternoon. It seems very nice.
I liked the idea of basing it on a powerful scripting language like Python.
That's in the same line with Gentoo, that I'm using on my pc. I'll try it.
