Can you put your *.conf on the web, so we can test and document it too?
Judging by the mails on the OE list you've have done a great deal of
work for this.

Just to report some good news...

I managed to create a "gpe-image" rootfs for Linux 2.6 iPAQs using
OpenEmbedded, and will start my tests soon on h2200.

This rootfs includes an Xserver that can directly use a calibration
file, which should let us check whether our touchscreen linearization
driver works fine or not...

Once this is addressed, I'll build an "opie-image" rootfs too...

    More soon, hopefully by the end of the week.
