Right! We already thought about this, but this is less secure than
directly reflashing the device from a CF card through the original HTC
bootloader. If anything happens with the host during the flashing
process (you could have a base XPrience...), you can end up with a brick.

Now, we have to work on what we will replace WinCE with, especially the
piece of code that will start the Linux kernel. This looks like quite a
lot of work. Any help is welcome!

Sure! Keep reading e-mail from this list!

Mmm, it won't be enough, unless we make a skim root filesystem with much
less applications. At the moment, the root fs is meant to fit in a 32 MB
partition. It's actually bigger (52M), but it's just 16 MB when it's
bzip2 compressed, so it should fit in a jffs2 formatted partition. You
will also need a FAT partition on the CF card to boot Linux from Windows
CE. You could also have this partition on your SD card.

So, I'd advice you to get at least a 64 MB CF card. It will be useful
anyway.

    Hope this answers your questions...

    Cheers,

    Michael.
